In Canada, the Cannabis Act came into force on October 17, 2018. Provinces and territories are responsible for determining the production, distribution, sale and possession of cannabis.
They are also allowed to set additional restrictions including:
- Increasing the minimum age
- Lowering possession limits
- Restricting the use of cannabis in public areas
For this reason, regulations on the use and sale of cannabis vary from province to province.
